Académie des technologies

International

The Academy is an active member of European and international networks of Academies of Technology, and can thus cross-reference and enrich its own reflections with those of its counterparts. It is also involved in several bilateral partnerships.

CAETS

CAETS, established in 1985, is a non-governmental, international and independent organisation of Academies of Engineering and Technology in thirty-one countries. It has one member academy per country. Together, these academies pursue the following goals: - To be ready to advise governments and international organisations on technical and policy issues related to its areas of expertise; - To contribute to the strengthening of engineering and technology activities to promote sustainable economic growth and social welfare worldwide; - To promote a balanced public understanding of engineering and technology applications; - To provide an international forum for the discussion and communication of engineering and technology issues of common concern; - To encourage international cooperative efforts in engineering and technology through meaningful contacts for the development of programmes of bilateral and multilateral interest; - To encourage the improvement of international engineering education and practice; - To encourage the establishment of additional engineering academies in countries where none exist. In 2022, the Academy of Technologies of France will host the annual CAETS meeting in France.

Euro-CASE/SAPEA

The Academy is an active member of Euro-CASE. Euro-CASE represents the Academies of Engineering Sciences and was founded in 1992 in Paris. It is an independent non-profit organisation of national academies of engineering and technologies from 22 European countries. Through its Member academies, Euro-CASE has access to top European expertise from over 6,000 experts and engages stakeholders such as European Institutions, national Governments, companies and private organisations to enrich the debate on the benefits of technological progress, in a balanced and equitable manner. Euro-CASE also provides impartial, independent and balanced advice on technological issues with a clear European dimension, and along with other Academy networks Euro-CASE delivers evidence-based advice to policy makers and society. The aim of Euro-CASE is to foster European excellence in technology and engineering, sciences and practice, for the benefit of European Society. In the framework of the European Science Advisory Mechanism, the SAPEA project, in which Euro-CASE represents the academies of technology in Europe, receives funding from the European Union's research and innovation programme. This funding allows it to contribute to advising the Commission on technological issues in complete independence and in addition to the internal scientific services of the Joint Research Centre and the existing specialised committees.
